LOCAL FLAMES SPREADS RAPIDLY

Firefighters are battling a blaze that has rapidly spread out of control in the northwest/eastern/southern part of town. The fire, which started around midday, destroyed several buildings, and residents have been forced to flee. Witnesses report seeing huge/massive columns of smoke billowing into the sky.
